The K2 Cologne Skate Marathon will be organized on October 14, 2012 according to Deutscher Rollsport- und Inline-Verband (DRIV) e. V. regulations under supervision of the Rollsport- und Inline-Verband NRW (RIV/NRW) e. V.

The "speed" category is for licensed skaters having a verifiable marathon best time less than 1:20h (men) and less than 1:30h (women). There are no ages classes for this category. Chronometry is according to gross time (cf. GERMAN INLINE CUP rulebook).

The age classes for the "fitness" category are as follows: 16-17 years, 18-29, 30-39, newly 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-65, 65-69, 70 years and older. Most relevant for this categorization is the date of birth. Chronometry is according to net time.

In accordance with DRIV WKO rules there is a separate scoring for each gender in the first starting block.
The jury is made of independent qualified DRIV referees and monitors the proper compliance with DRIV WKO regulations.

All fitness and recreational skaters start in a separate category named "fitness" - without any competitive pressure from the top athletes in the first starting block.

These "fitness" skaters will have their own starting block(s) and also net times will be indicated in the result lists. Also here the first three women and men will be awarded. They have their own ranking and only for this category we will have the age class rankings.

The above mentioned conditions are valid for all GERMAN INLINE CUP (GIC) races.

We are going to assort the ensuing special scorings. Please consider the entirely identical spelling of team names in the registrations. The place of residence in the registration is relevant for the inclusion in the Cologne city championship.

• team scoring (5 best finisher net results of a club or company)

You must be at least 16 years of age on race day (birthday in 1996 and older) and possess an official bib number and a chip.

The limit for participants is a maximum of 2,500 skaters.

Please note that, due to a strict timeframe, you are to complete the competition within a gross time of 2:30 hours. Otherwise you will be taken off the course and brought to the finish area by bus. The course has to be blocked then for the ensuing marathon competition.

You are to pay the following registration fees depending on the time period you register:

Group registrations (as of January 2012) of at least 10 persons reduce the registration fee per person to the rate of the previous period. In case you intend to register 10 or more persons please contact us via email, we will then send you a special registration form. Thank you.

Just register easily and comfortably online on this web site. You will immediately receive the  email confirmation. An additional official email confirmation of participation containg the last important information will in September 2012.

Single-person registrations via phone or email will not be accepted! The online registration will be closed on September 21, 2012 (as long as the participant limit is not reached).

Late online entries will further be accepted through September 28, 2012 and also at the Köln Marathon Expo, NO registrations on race day.

Bib numbers will be allocated automatically, indicated in the direct email confirmation and then published in the starters’ list in the internet.

In the online registration you may choose your personal bib number within a defined bib number range for EUR 2.00 per person – as long as the number is not allocated yet.

"Fitness" skaters will be handed out a one-piece coloured bib number for the corresponding starting block (e. g. yellow bib number = yellow starting block). Make sure you fill in the form on the reverse side for possible medical treatment and pin your race number in breast height on the front of your jersey/t-shirt using the pins provided in the bag.

We will provide "speed" skaters with a bib number for the left thigh.

Disguising, concealing, or deviating the sponsors bar also leads to immediate disqualification!

The Köln Marathon Expo located in the Koelnmesse offers diverse novelties from the fields of running, inline skating, fitness, cyclling, wellness, and health. You may also be provided with information on latest trends and products and you may talk to experts. The event is free and the public is welcome. Please pick up your race packets here.

Our opening hours (may be subject to change):

Friday, October 12, 2012: 10 a. m. to 8 p. m.

Saturday, October 13, 2012: 9 a. m. to 7 p. m.

By presenting the official email confirmation or personal ID the race packets may be collected at the corresponding desks.

Non-resident participants may also pick up their race packets on race day, October 14, 2012 in the Koelnmesse. We however explicitly advice you to collect them on the previous expo days. On race day there may be long queues at the desks!

Chronometry is exclusively carried out by Mika timing with the RealTime ChampionChip. You must wear a chip to get an official finishing time!

You may use your own ChampionChip or rent one on bail for race day. In order to enable a careless arrival without any cash money we will charge your account with the rental fee already at the time of your registration. German participants are to pay a rental fee of EUR 6.00 per person. With the signature on the registration form or the acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions in the online registration you further entitle us to charge your bank account with the remaining purchase price of EUR 25.00 in the case of non-return on race day prior to 6 p. m. The chip is bought then and may be re-used at other competitions.

German participants may also buy the chip directly for EUR 31.00 within the registration process and use it for further races.

Foreigners are to pay a rental fee of EUR 10.00 for a single-use chip which may be used on race day in Cologne only. Please return this chip after the event as it is considered special waste.

Please fasten your ChampionChip in the lacing of your shoe or skate and your hand cycle respectively.

Make sure that you overrun all chronometry mats along the course. Lacking interval times may cause in disqualification.

The kit bag drop-off may be found near the marathon expo in the finish area.

Showers with warm water are also available near the kit bag drop-off.

Helmets are mandatory to participate in the event. Wrist, knee, and elbow pads are highly recommended.

The race will be held rain or shine.

You will find a 2011 overview of potential critical track sections – like downhill runs, obstacles, road holes etc. - here. The 2012 version will follow close to the race.

According to the GERMAN INLINE CUP rulebook the category "speed" women start prior to the men of the same category. All "fitness" category skaters race in different starting blocks.

There may be modifications concerning the starting times in 2012. As soon as they are fix they will be published here.

The overall course as well as the starting and finish areas will be monitored by medical services and doctors.

This personnel is entitled to take off sportspeople with indications of injuries and/or overexertion from the race.

Our event will be organized according to DRIV guidelines, GERMAN INLINE CUP rulebook and specification of the organizing institution.
A violation of these provisions will directly lead to disqualification, i. e.:

• starting without any bib number
• starting in the wrong starting block - gender and category!, to be monitored via chronometry!, NEW: 5 minutes penalty
• alteration of the bib number such as concealing or deviating the sponsors bar
• starting without any RealTime ChampionChip
• starting with more than one RealTime ChampionChip
• starting without any helmet
• lacking interval times
• exceeding the given time limit (gross time!)
• abandoning or shortening the track
• undershooting the required age
• using entertainment devices such as MP3 players, iPods, mobile phones etc. on the course
• carrying along baby buggies, baby joggers etc.
• carrying along animals

All participants finishing within the gross time limit will obtain a medal.

Preliminary certificates will automatically be sent to your email address stated in your registration. Further, you may download this certificate in the internet with a click on your name in the result list and print it.

A final and official certificate including elapsed time and overall scoring will be available in the internet approximately two weeks after the event (expiring the period for objection).

The on-stage ceremony awards of the three fastest female and male athletes as well as of the overall GERMAN INLINE CUP winners will be held directly after their finish in the finish area.

Furthermore, we will award the winners of the "fitness category" and the age classes as well as the city champions some weeks after the event.
